About Praetura ventures
Praetura Ventures has been supporting exceptional early-stage businesses across the tech and life sciences landscape since 2019. Headquartered in Manchester, our award-winning VC has successfully backed a long list of regional stars. These include Peak, BankiFi, Culture Shift, Modern Milkman and the many others that make up our 35-strong EIS portfolio. To date, we have invested £128m and last year invested £29.25m to help growing businesses.
What sets us apart is our commitment to More Than Money, which is the additional value we provide to founders beyond capital alone. Two key examples of this are founder support through our Operational Partner Programme, which connects entrepreneurs with influential mentors who have previously helped scale some outstanding global companies, including AO.com, Dr Marten’s, OSTC and MPP Global.
Another key example of More Than Money support is our industry-leading Portfolio Toolkit, which helps companies to unlock vital savings on business costs on everything from R&D tax credits services to AWS.
Our reputation for providing More Than Money and passionately supporting the North’s tech ecosystem (two-thirds of the companies in Praetura’s portfolio are based in the North) has also earned us the trust and support of many regional organisations and stakeholders. These include Bruntwood SciTech, Greater Manchester Combined Authority and Cheshire and Warrington LEP. Praetura Ventures is also the largest partner on British Business Investments’ Regional Angels Programme.
In 2022, we appointed Apple’s former director of US consumer retail Colin Greene and former ANS CTO Andy Barrow as Partners in the business alongside serial health entrepreneur Lee Forster, helping us to expand our investment expertise and back more businesses with More Than Money.

Praetura Ventures benefits from a large and diverse investment team, who oversee £2.5bn worth of opportunities a year.
We usually invest between £1m and £3m in the businesses we back. In terms of tech, we typically look for SaaS businesses with recurring revenue models at seed stage and above.
